While I was in Norway, I wanted to capture an authentic local old fisherman. I asked my landlady about one and she told me about Peter Peterson who lives in Hamnoy. Every day I would go and wait for him, hoping to win him over with a smile and gifts. I bought beers and hoped to convince him to let me photograph him. But I couldn’t see him. On the last day before leaving for Bulgaria, I made one last attempt. I went there and waited for him to appear at the small port. I started guessingwhich house was his. On the principle of exclusion, I settled on two. I went to the first house and peeked through the windows. I saw a man in an armchair in the darkness. It was probably him. I went to the front door looking for a bell. There was no bell. I was very embarrassed, but I told myself that if I was persistent I would have photos with an old Norwegian fisherman, if not I would not have photos. I started yelling “Peteeer, Peteeer”. It was very quiet and my voice just echoed. After a lot of yelling and lots of shame, Peter came out in a fisherman’s overall. He knew it was me and agreed with a smile. The photo shoot started. In the frame is his boat – the boat of the oldest fisherman in the Lofoten archipelago. I took this picture while I was waiting for him to show up.
