Square Print #3
I often go to the region of Yundola. There are villages of Bulgarian Mohammedans there that are full of life. There people work and live as they did a hundred years ago. They are happy and very kind. Every time I come back from there with my car full of gifts from the people. Jars of meat, potatoes, jam, cheese, compotes, whatever is in their cellars. Everyone works equally, regardless of gender. Every day these women carry for miles pine branches for their goats. Every day they carry the heavy load across the hills. It is quite a heavy load, but it’s nutritious food for the animals. It was their last resting stop before the village.
