One sunny day in the winter I went to the Balkans around the town of Tryavna. It was both cold and warm. I went around the region and met people who daily carried hay to the village from the fields where the haystacks were. They carried the hay with donkeys. I had taken a very long 100-400mm lens, which was luck since there was no way I could have done this shot without it. This man walked in the snow in the distance. He had gone to the neighboring village about a mile away. It seemed kind of scary to me, alone in the mountains in this snow. The man was not young, but I was told he made this trip every day. I thought about these daily efforts that we city folk are deprived of.
